Pajama Dress(ing)

What's hot right now? Well, besides the weather, this idea of "pajama dressing" which a lot of designers are featuring in their ready to wear collections. We are all about this trend but figure we might as well actually where pajamas rather than buy pieces that look like pajamas since you're going to buy pajamas anyway. How many times can we use the word pajamas in this post? We couldn't resist these pieces from Frou Frou and they will definitely be doubling as maxi dresses this summer; probably the simplest way to pull of the pajama trend if you aren't sure how you feel about it. Other suggestions for those that are a little more daring: wear that silk slip as a skirt, lace tap pants as shorts or pair a menswear inspired pajama top with denim cutoffs and heels.

Here, the sweet details and easy fabrics ensure you will be pj chic on the street. Picture that last one with a little jean jacket or a little more dressed up with an ivory blazer. Lucky we happen to have those hanging in our closet. It's so much fun getting all dressed up. Especially when you're in your pajamas and you don't even want to think about getting ready to go out. Wait...see what I did there? 

Just add wedges. (And a little arm candy wouldn't hurt!)

Kate does Toronto...

On Wednesday night last week, along with the wonderful girls at Lotus Leaf, we celebrated the launch of Dear Kate underwear here in Toronto! We have been loving the fashionable and functional underthings from this made for women by women underwear line ever since they were known as Sexy Period. Fresh off a successful re-brand the girls thought it was time to bring the amazingness of no more "oops moments" to Canada and we are so glad they did! We threw the best underwear party ever with champagne, sweets and thanks to our lovely and talented seamstress Paulina, customizable panties! Everyone went home with a bedazzled pair of Dear Kate underwear and the knowledge that although Kate can't reschedule your time of the month or train your unborn child, she can make life safer for your favourite dress. Even when we don't feel so hot, sometimes it's nice to know we can still look it because who wouldn't  be looking their best with the peace of mind that Kate has them covered? Now that the sun is out it's time to shop for our summer wardrobes! Oh what fun! A frequent piece of advice women are given when shopping is "if you don't love it, don't buy it." I am a shopaholic in denial and frequently make all sorts of ridiculous impulse purchases. I have a very difficult time realizing that just because something is "all the rage" or "on sale" doesn't mean I have to have it. I am getting better, slowly, maybe.

This got me thinking, when it comes to underwear shopping, do women follow this advice? As far as lingerie goes, North America is way behind. Europe is really where it's at. Women there dress to the nines both inside and out. But over here it's all about function. Which is important yes, but who really wants to wear a plain beige bra all the time? Women often use the excuse that no one sees their underwear or they're single so, what's the point? I like to think of  this as the non-pert way to go about shopping for your underwear. For instance, a red bra will disappear under white. I know what you're thinking. It does not. But it does. That's fashion and function right there. And since they say it's better to leave some things to the imagination, it's a really good feeling knowing you are in fact walking around wearing the stuff that usually only shows up in thought bubbles. I realize I am completely biased when it comes to all of this. Last time I organized my top drawer(s) I counted something like 45+ bras. But, only 3 of those are beige. Winning! So, next time you're out shopping for a new bra, ask yourself if YOU really love it. I hope you leave with something kinda wonderful.
